How do you add a decal to the engine. I was thinking that I could place one under the snow cover so that I could alfa it out for an American GP38.

Please define an "American GP38", and post a DDS with this 'snow cover' circled.

I'll figured out the charges when I see the request.......

An American engine is an engine version built for American railroads and a Canadian engine is an engine version built for Canada. They built two versions of the GP38-2 one for the USA and one for Canada.

Wikipedia says,"The GP38-2W is a Canadian variant of the GP38-2. It is easily distinguished by its wide-nose Canadian comfort cab. 51 of these locomotives were produced for Canadian National Railway during 1973–1974.

There are snow-shields above the inertial-filter central air intakes behind the cab; the electrical boxes and equipment blower behind the cab also differ in detail from a standard GP38-2. They are otherwise identical." Although this talks specifically about the GP38-2W it is the same for most of the GP38-2 engines that CN owns, the engines without snow covers are the GTW and IC engines.

I thought that might be it. I pulled the roofing off the sides, just like you did, and found the flat section under it, just like you did. We at Trains Are Us!, a subdivision of Buildings Are Us!, have plans to alter a few engines to get other types, and we'll dump this into our pile. If it is easy enough, along with such things as getting rid of the bell, putting the headlight up in place of it, the horns in a few different places and attempting to create different GP units, we'll toss that in there somewhere.

  Wish I could afford one of those 2 million dollar engines. I would rather buy a Southern Pacific or Great Northern engine though.

I would rather have the Milwaukee Road. Speaking of, anyone tell me how to make duals out of the Milwaukee Road engine?

I was thinking of duals too. I guess I should make a second number for the Milwaukee Road GP40. Also, Snoopy55, if you plan on editing the CN GP38-2 you could also try using the wheelset from the GP38 on the AC4400 for a Dash-8-40BW like these here: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 808&nseq=6 and try lengthening the GP38-2 and adding the AC4400s wheelset for a SD40-2. You could make a C40-9 by using the nose and cab of the GP38 on the AC4400 like these: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 856&nseq=3 maybe it would be better if you narrowed the GP38's nose though.

Ya I guess duals are what some people want. You might even try searching for color scheme changes and logo and sidepanel markings that are different.

As to the different engines, That is mainly Tijers thing. He's working on a couple right now. We have several new GP38-2s' in the oven right now.

We got discussing it, and decided that with the price of crude oil on the rise, we will have to be paid in that commodity. Get paid for our products AND invest in a quickly price rising good

Will these new GP38-2's have diffs that are almost identical in location of parts to the diff of the CN GP38-2 I have? If so, it will be much easier to convert the engines I already have.
