question on stock

Post by slider38 » Sat Mar 01, 2008 3:14 am

Hi Folks, I've got a game going against an AI player. I hold 5 stock certificates in my company, and he holds 7. I thought there were only 10 for each company. I've looked at the readme, but I find no change listed there. Has anyone else run into this? Slider

If you mean that only ten stocks in all can be bought then the problem is that on the tenth stock bought in one players stock they are bought out. so there are really twenty stocks in all. As an example player one has 6 stocks and player two has nine. When player two buys stock ten he will win or player one buys four more stocks and buys out player two.

slider38 - I just realized what you are seeing.
In the game, each player has 10 stocks available in his railroad. If you play against 3 AIs, each will start with 5 stocks in the Invester Level. You can buy more of your stock or their stock without waiting for someone to sell.

Stock issue

Hi Folks,
I finished the game last night before I found these replies to my post. Sorry snoopy, no screen shot, but this was the deal. I was playing one AI. I owned 5 shares of my company and 5 of his company. He owned 3 shares of his company and 7 shares of mine. That makes 12 shares of my company in play. I didn't think there were more than 10 available. I just didn't think that was supposed to be possible. Sorry for the lack of a picture, but that was the deal. The same thing showed on both the main screen and the competition screen. Slider

OK, you only have 10 shares showing for you and ten showing for him. You each have 10 shares available for purchase, by anyone. Call yours blue and his red. By what you say:

You: $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

Him: $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

If this is correct, what you are really seeing is: Your stock, you own 5 of your own and he owns 5 or yours. His stock: He owns 3 of his own and you own 7 of his.

When you buy a share of the other guys stock, your color, blue, shows in HIS stock line. You can own all 10 of your stock and 9 of his, leaving him with only 1 of his own:

You: $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

Him: $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $

If he sells his last share, you can buy it  , at which time you'll be asked if you want to Merge his with yours 8) (the two become one which you own and control) or Sell  , in which case his all dissapears and you get some money.

I hope that explains what is happening.
