Arizona Rails

Post by slider38 » Tue Feb 06, 2024 1:44 pm

Hi Folks. After getting The Great Northwest out of production, I have started on a new map - Arizona Rails. I am
bringing an engine out of retirement for this one - the ATSF F3A and F3B number 31C.

This engine started life as a SD40-2. I think that the only parts that haven't been changed or removed or replaced are the trucks. I've been working on this for a couple of weeks. When I found this while doing some research for this map, I thought it had some interesting lines. This is the ATSF F45 5941.

I have had several past maps where I could have used an Air Base. This one too so I finally put something together. This is the result:

I have a lot of map work to do so I'd better get to it.

I have been fooling with a covered bridge for a while and I think I have done about all I can. I am using it in this map as the engines are all diesels. If I try running it with a steam engine, there is nothing I can do to prevent the smoke from pouring through the roof of the bridge. The game was definitely not created with something like this in mind.

Hi Folks, I just wanted to let you know that I am still working on this map. Everything has been tested twice and I am currently trying to strike a good balance between starting locations. Sometimes that's easy and sometimes it's not. I have been running the map for a couple of weeks. I think I am getting closer, but I'm not there yet. Once I get the balance to a point that I'm satisfied with, I still have a bunch of map work to do and, finally, I will do the event files. This one is just taking a little more time than most. So it goes.
