The Best Non-Goal Oriented Map

Post by MaxKillington » Mon Dec 24, 2012 9:18 am

While I truly love the maps that have a complex set of mission objectives, I have been searching for a more open-ended map. To be specific, I have really been searching for a map that only has one objective (Be the last railroad standing), but still presents a good challenge when played with either AI and/or actual multiplayer humans. There are one or two maps (that I know of) on this site with that one simple mission objective, but...
I wonder, in everyone's opinion, what the best map of this nature is? Or, even better, if someone is up to (or has already begun) making a map of this nature. I wish I had to technical expertise to do it myself, but alas... there are clearly more talented map makers here than I could ever hope to be! *KUDOS*

Why don't you get the discussion started by mentioning the one or two maps you liked especially - with some pointers to what makes them special. Then map makers could figure out how to create some more :D

I'll give you one to try....... Side-to-Side DSC..... http://smrsimple.com/2009/06/side-to-side-dsc/

The original Side-to-Side would be a good one also, but alas, there is no copy of the SAM on this site...... :(

Of course you can get it here: http://www.sidmeiersrailroads.net/viewt ... ?f=14&t=32
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....
