Hello Jancsika

Sorry map still CTD's and this was around 1896 GARNWICH brewery. That had about 4 secs left to build and there was other industries waiting to build after that one.

In your goods file you have global entries for Iron and Iron Ore. after removing those the map ctd's on startup.

I think you have still got issues getting the Iron and Iron ore sorted and I think we are back to where we where in the last post, did you use any of snoopy55 modifications he did?

What about the CastIron.FPK?

Yea. You are right. those are two working files for when I redid the scenario requirements. Yust delete them.

About the Iron car thingy. I am puzzeled. Used Snoopy55's files.
I would like very much if he would look at them.
For the Iron Ore I had three round containers on the TrainCar, for the Iron I had beams similar to the Steel only in rusty color.

Did you delete everythin from your CustomAssets file and installed the SMRI pack from scrach?

Yes I did I have only SMRI v1.0 and the patched 1.1 Patch installed. I put everything in another folder.

** edited **

Just to confirm I see all the icons and Iron Beams, Machinery etc. I did have iron ore from iron mine going to iron mill.

I was wondering about you having a full description in your goods for Iron and Iron Ore.

If I edited your goods map and just had <szName>Iron Ore and Iron</szName> </Good> and let the globals alone the map would CTD on startup.

The question was I know in the past if you have full goods info in yourmap_goods causes CTD's and all goods should be in the global's.

In this respect the map is not working with the global entries for Iron and Iron Ore?????

Also there was something else causing the CTD in the last post. I will try and see what it was.

Hello

** Edited ***

I can now send people to grain farm pickup grain and deliver to brewery with no CTD.

Issue is in your RRT_Industries_FourBearsV2_01.xml

I have removed (I can see you where trying to grow grain farm but this cause CTD?????)

Code: Select all

<Resource>
<Input>Nitrates</Input>
<Output>Grain</Output>
<InputOutputRatio>0.5</InputOutputRatio>
</Resource>
For Brewery added some input and output.

Code: Select all

<iCost>1500000</iCost>
<Production>
<Resource>
<Input>Grain</Input>
<Output>Beer</Output>
<InputOutputRatio>0.300000</InputOutputRatio>
</Resource>
 </Production>

same for <szName>Pelletizer</szName> no input and output production.

I off to test this as I have added some input and output.

K-class - you can't remove the global entries that are in the map. The problem with the Iron is that it needs to be called Bulk Iron. Not because that's what i named it, but because in the map Anerica, the name Iron is used for Iron Ore, not the name Iron Ore that is used in MID EAST. I hope you understood that. That part of the map ran fine for me. But it will have to be changed for it to go Global.
As to other CTDs, you need to restart and run a map that CTDs a little differently. Set a load of people up to go to the mine. Watch it. When it has managed that, then run a load of ore to the town, and watch that. Continue doing this until you have run everything. To set up 2 or 3 trains and have a CTD, you don't know which one it was that had a problem. Sometimes when a map is created, the mapper puts something in his own CustomAssets folder and forgets about it. Been there, done that.

Jancsika - when you finish setting up cities and industries in the editer, over next to the trash can is a wrench. Click on it and it will put everything at the height it should be, cities, mines, etc. Comes in handy.

I haven't played it thru, but it seems to be OK. Good work.

Yes there is quite a confusion about naming industries.
There is a Cast Iron, Iron, Iron Mine, Iron Ore Mine, etc.
Also Taconite Mine, Taconite Ore mine.
..and that of course translates into the naming of the TrainCars.

I was under the impression that the game does that automatically when saving. At least that's what the fellow from Firaxis told us at the beginning of times.

No, if you place something on level ground and move it into a hill or mountain, it has a tendancy to kinda stay buried. The wrench puts everything where it's going to be when the game is played. There may be some automatic adjustments, but I'd prefer to see where it is going to be than hope it's going to look right....... :wink:

Certain maps, like this one, have been released for quite a while,
but I always wonder why no installer has been created.

I mostly don't download those map because I assume
they are not working properly (yet).
Is that the reason for the absence of an installer?

In this case if I remember right yes. At least that was the case last time I talked to Atani about it.

What Are these Installers and Globals I see talked about through out the forum. Do I need these to play various maps posted here. Some I understand but the way things are set out its very confusing that is what and what goes here or there, and do these installer things make changes to the main files used.
