Okay, I posted the fixed Installer.

Just for future reference, if you open the Setup file with 7-Zip it really helps you see how the installer will build things. 8)

Perfect.
The install worked without a problem. I'm pretty sure I didn't have
certain mods installed, so I guess now I do.
Developers please keep including everything a newbie needs to install a map.
We're more than willing to download large files if it means we just have to doubleclick
to make everything work.
(Personally I have no problem with files up to several dozen mbs).

I love this map. In fact, I love every map that offers me something new.
The whole passenger/resource thing is great to mess with.
Dual Locs! Look at me blazin' through the landscape. Awesome work Doc.

Everything went dandy untill Visual C+++ crapped out on me and gave me
a runtime error on railroads.exe.
Nothing to do with the map is my guess. I'm probably overloading my cpu.

When playing the map, I noticed that it was a bit harder than usual to find resources for my industries.
Normally when I select a city, the mini-map shows me icons of the places that offer resources
for that city's particular industry.
Amerigonia however doesn't show this. I solved it by using the resources icon on top of the map.

A general question: Does supplying passengers to a city cause it to grow,
or does a city specifically need a good like food/ore/oil, etc for that?

Greets and thanks a lot for your work on this map.
Bushdoctor.

Actually it does.... When you click on a city in most other maps you see two things, icons for the Goods that the city needs, and icons (exclamation pionts) for the Goods the city has. The part about this map you like, the passenger/resource thing, kinda plays a little trick. Say the city needs Wool. The Wool icons come up BUT, the sheep farms also need passengers, so an exclamation point pastes itself right on top of the Wool icon because the city you're on has the passengers. If you look closely at the city and find, say, the Clothing Factory and click on it, you'll see where the Wool is on the map.
This type of thing is on the Chicago to the Rockies map also. The Grain Farms need Nitrates for fertilizer, and the Cattle Ranch needs Grain for the Cattle, which produce the Nitrates. A nice loop that you have to pull Grain from for other things.
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....

Yeah, the mini map icon overlap is a pain but I haven't looked into that yet. I was thinking that an easy fix might be to make the Exclam icon smaller so you can tell that there is something behind it.

Thanks for your kind words. I am thinking about Amerigonia 2 and I have another idea for a totally different Scenario. But as I'm working full time now (and a little extra sometimes) it may take me a bit to produce them.

Thanks for the map AND the installer, Doc :) Works fine and what with workers thrown into the mix surely adds a new element to the strategy end of things
p.s. the double header steamers are pretty cool  :D

You're very welcome and glad to hear it's all working.

A neat trick with the dlual locos is to change the skin. The dual with always stay with the default skin so the first will change and you'll have a nice contrast between the two.

A few question

Post by Gundam004 » Thu Sep 20, 2007 8:13 am

Dr frag

I just download it and was just looking around the map to get a feel for it. Looks pretty nice. :D Looking forward to play it.
I notice that the lumber mill does not say it require passenger. How do I fix that so it will be like the other resource?
Also the tender mod that was mentioned on the first page. I found one in the train mod section called Mange tender mod. Is that the one??

Thanks

Thanx Gundam, you can open the RRT_Indusrties_Amerigonia.xml file and add an Input for the Timber Mill. Use the other Resource definitions as a guide.

Yes, Manges Tender Mod is the right one and the only Tender Mod for SMR. I am working on the Installer System to check for dependencies and offer to download and install them during Sccenario installations.

Hey guys, I just uploaded a new installer that includes my dependency check code. It will check for the Tender Mod and if it doesn't find it the installer will ask if you want to download it and install it on the spot. \

If you would like to test it out for me move or delete the NewTenders.FPK file in your CustomAssets folder and run the new installer.

I am not sure why but I am CTD after the game starts "Building up steam"

The installer appeared to work fine, including the tendermod installer. Not quite sure what the problem is :(

Did you have the Fraxis Santa map installed before hand?

Yes I did, does that have to be uninstalled? I read through the troubled map installs sticky but I was having trouble following it and exactly what to do.
