I really enjoyed this map - great work and thanks. I found it was really difficult on mogul-hard (made it to the 3rd era, barely, but couldn't pull of the arms/car deliveries or net worth). The second time i played financier-easy with no competitors and it was a snap (finished with 12 years to spare). So I'd say the difficulty level was perfect as it can range for reasonably easy to very challenging.

I have managed to do it on Robber Baron/Hard/no AI too. Starting from Warrington. It took me several tries to succeed in the first era, but when I eventually did, it was with quite a lot of time left.

After I got a good start, I eased up a little and the result was that I had problems with making enough money to buy all the shares and with raising net value to 40 millions. I had to start again from 1867 saved game and work more on profitability.

First era completed with 7 years to spare.
Second era completed with 11 years to spare.
Last era completed 7 years earlier (and it could have been maybe even 10 years if I had bothered to improve my weapon factory steel supply).

I have realized that passenger and mail transport could be quite profitable because of the speed and distance bonuses. It is important to upgrade to terminals sooner than later to enjoy the 100% delivery bonus.

Around 1900 I had again created cash machine from Leeds-Bradford by buying steel mill in Leeds and improved the whole schema even more by adding Textile Mill in Bradford and Chemical Plant in Leeds. With that, money just poured in and I could start buying out company shares.

I have attached two saves you might find interesting:

Save from 1867: except for Preston all conditions of the first era are set for completion in few years.

Save from 1912: it features Leeds-Bradford money generator.

go into Wiki (right end of red box above), 'Game Mechanics', 'The Game Interface'. Your answer, and a few other items, is there.

And "Welcome to the forum!"
