Also looking at suggestions that you guys think should have for industries on this map. Please in game industries only I don't want the hassle that it takes to make new ones. :D

Resources that would fit would be lumber, coal, fishing and oil. Farming (grain and sheep) might be a stretch but could probably be legit. Not sure about anything else but I guess it depends how realistic you are aiming for. :)

Thanks for taking the time to make the maps you have done for the community.

One thing I haven't figured out with the maps is there will be no population in any town or cities (town & City names are ok) and I get no/messed up shore lines (just green).
I'm a little dense at times, but I haven't found anything clear in the forums on how exactly to set up the modded maps..
This is were I put the maps ie Mexico, H:\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\CustomAssets\maps\MEXICO (H:\ drive is were "My Documents" are)(same problems with all other custom maps)
I read some things on changing the .xml file, but nothing clear to me. I read some things that come from other forum members trying to help, but it seems to be a little different from one guy too the next on how to change the .xml

For me it always helps to see a before and after of a file and location I need to change.
Like I said, I'm a little dense.. :?

Just a note to all modders to help us slow to learn guys out there. Please put a full readme file In with every map/mod on how too get your mod working.

Can't wait till the ingame editor comes out.. that should make modding and installing mods a bit easier.

Thanks again :D

hm. I use the easiest one. Worp pad for the xml´s and for the MAPs (.tga, .dds) i use the ingame terrain editor.

Here is a Useful Link maybe -> http://www.hookedgamers.com/forums/view ... 0881#10881

Thanks PaF-Daddy

But I'm not looking to do any map editing yet..
I just would like to know how to install the custom map you guys already made so they work properly. ie I'm not getting any population with any of d53642 maps I tried to play.
I'll look at the link you gave a little better and I'll have to look to see if there is an ingame editor in the with the 1.10 patch.. I just installed it.. Funny I didn't notice the new patch.. I was looking too quick, 1.01 looks like 1.10 at a glance.. I'm not only dense, but dyslectic too

Thanks for answer before I did P-Daddy.

Just to give everyone an update. I am more happy with the way the Alaska map is turning out and after I release a scenario less test of the map I will be working on a scenario if it remains stable and playable.

Should see a Beta release of this map later on today as I just have industries to place to get it ready for playing. I wish the auto would lay down more than 3-4 each for this map size but until it does I will have to do it myself.

Self tested, now its your turn to test and respond.

Only one Canadian City on this map and it barely fit into its spot, the rest are all from Alaska.

This map only has a few resources but plenty of them in key locations.

Every village will accept mail and passengers but will only produce them when they get big enough to become a town. Every starting city starts as a town.

Scenario coming after first round of tests by you guy. Let me know if anything is wrong with it that you can see.

Played for about an hour and it's lots of fun. Good map to really work the resources and try to make the villages grow. Look forward to a scenerio with goals. :)

Daryl
Thank you for the fantastic map.
I've played it the entire day.
So much better then a flat land; bridges and tunnels everywhere.
Loved it.
Really don;t care about scenarios or AI..........just trains and shipping.

Looking forward to you moving a bit south, and doing the same job in British Columbia.

Thanks again
Pete

Daryl,
Thanks for all the hard work. I was getting bored, but you have breathed new life into this game with your large maps. I'll keep checking back for any new ones. Thanks again!!!!
