Thanks for a nice map. I tried it online with 3 other people. Was the only one fishing, made enough money with food to buy out one player which lead to a win for me. I like how big the map is and how far cities and resources are. This is what railroads are all about.

I must agree, this is an awesome map. I set the ITurnPerMonth to 64 so I could play it out 8)

Unfortunately, it appears I've hit a dead end. From my last save, the game will always crash at February 27, 1939. Not sure if it's to do with the map, something funky because of the time-scaling, or just my PC. I was having so much fun, too.

I downloaded Alaska and I thought I put it where it was supposed to go, but it didn't come up in the game. Then I looked at the other files where I placed it and none of them were .rar files. In the scenario folder, there aren't any .rar files either. Help.

You will need to get WinRAR and unzip it. Then place it in your folder.

WinRAR has a 40 day trial. You can Google it.

Ken

PS Good point though. I guess we should all zip it into a .zip file so windows can unzip it.

Forget the trial versions... go to this address:

http://www.7-zip.org/

It's free and works on many, if not all, zip files.

Dayrl - I was going thru maps and stripping out material that is supplied by the Global XML files and when I played this one, I noticed the first engine, the Amaerican, didn't have a tender. Thinking I may have messed that up when I first played with it I downloaded a fresh copy. You only have 4 of the 8 tenders in RRT_TrainCars_ALASKA.xml. Was this intentional?

good one

Post by Slappy Da Clown » Sat Apr 07, 2007 12:56 pm

Very nice map. Put on with installer. Smotth play for a while then I saved it & quit. Came back & loaded it later to sever CTDs. Finally it played through to the end. Im working on a theory about the CTDs, it may or may not be the map. I think it may have something to do with events but it seems to be random.

So for now while I do more investigating call this a very nice map. A good historical scenario could be put together from here

I have seemingly random CTD's in probably half the maps I play. Sometimes a map will play full through but most of the time I get a CTD though usually I can reload from the last save and keep on going. The weirdest CTD's I get is when I retire from a map which happens about half the time and not on all maps. Freakin buggy something or other though I don't wanna hurt anyone's feelings by calling the game buggy :? :D

Slappy, CeeBee - write down the Events and then check each off as they happen and when it CTD, look at what has not happened. If it is an Event, it should narrow it down.

One large map with lots of towns / cities and lots of resources.

Only change I did to this map was replace the trains.xml with my own with all the diesel electrics.

I experienced to major CTD's with this map that caused my pc to drop to the lowest display setting. Took a reboot to restore the correct display. I only run at 1024 x 769 on a 19 inch monitor.

One happened Fairbanks Colliery and at Dawson Ukon, I did not notice anything apart from when Ii reloaded the map there where a few auction events.

I was at year march 1908

After a reboot I was able to carry on playing my saved game. Has not crashed again. fingers crossed.

This is a great map for the AC 4400 dual as lots of long runs.

I only installed my graphics card yesterday and are on my 3rd lot of drivers for it.

Looks if it just has a lot going on for this map?

I will add to Slappy Da Clown post. http://www.hookedgamers.com/forums/view ... 6262#16262
