Is there some way to specify the trains the route to take when you buy it?

Specify the route
You can only route them past existing stations. So it is possible to select more than one station and by adding several stations, you can get it to pretty much anywhere on the map.
However: if the train encounters a station that wants the goods the train is carrying, it will drop it right away so the train may not have the goods at the end station anymore. (I think).
There's no other way to do this.
