If I own all of my stock and the price button shows 0 then I shouldn't be able to be taken over. But it happens and I end up with zero. Even in the most hostile takevoers the original owners are due something.
I've seen guys selling their stocks in order to raise money to but out someone else. When I see this happening I buy theirs up asap. This should make buying me out harder for them, but it doesn't.
