It's a nice book but I honestly haven't read enough to make a proper evaluation.

I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....

Yes, it's all black & white (grayscale :P) but there are a lot of really nice pictures. The table of contents is as follows:

Game Overview
Laying Tracks, Building Stations, and Routing Trains
Railroad Economics
Playing The Stock Market
Cities, Industries, and Goods
Patents
Engine Directory and Timeline
Single Player Scenarios
Multiplayer

The Industries section shows every industry and what it needs and produces. The Goods section shows all the goods/cars and what they are supplied by, demanded by, and processed into.

Yeah, that's why I made the offer. Didn't want people doing extra work if there was already a source for the info.

Oh My Goodness, I am looking at Ebay and the first 5 are $1.00 with $5.00 shipping :!: And I was just going to star making a what-goes-to-where diagram. What do those things cost on the street and are they worth getting :?:

Eh, I just ordered mine from the amazon marketplace, $10.30 + 3.49 shipping = 13.79. It will probably be slow in the mail, from their marketplace (2nd party sellers).

Always look to Ebay first, buy it now or bid. Nice low prices. Half.com also, which is where I got SMR for $12.00 buy it now :!:

I got it for $20 at my Best Buy store. It does have pretty pictures of the engines. Yes they're black and white but never you mind. The engine pictures are the best I've seen for a Railroad Tycoon game :D

What does it say about the NE scenario to get passengers from NY to DC?

I'd be interested too. That's my most-played scenario, & it took me awhile to get the knack of it (3 & 4 track mainline, 4 trains w/ 3 cars each, start at least 20 years before deadline). I now play with two ai's, ready to go for 3 or 1 (sometimes one ai is hard, because he is concentrating all his efforts to defeating you).

"...Upgrading a depot all the way to a terminal costs $250,000, so you need three-quarters of a million dollars to achieve one objective. Fortunately, one of your other objectives - the New York / Washington immigration - is worth a fair amount of money all by itself, so you should set that up as soon as possible. Run a dedicated and very straight track between these two cities as early as possible or getting all fifty carloads becomes tricky. Upgrade your New York-Washington passenger train the moment upgrades become available, so you can accomplish your goal and rake in the cash that much faster."

This goal is not hard in Solo play with no AIs, once you learn the ropes. I really like that e.g. you can slightly "wing" certain cities, to make almost a straight line from DC to NYC.... have your track slightly bend to be above one city along the way, slightly below another, etc.

Of course in MP or w/AIs, it's nearly impossible.
