SMR-MapShifter

Post by Yorkiesand23 » Fri Jan 22, 2010 8:50 pm

When using the above software, I install it and map the directory to C:\maps but no maps appear in the selection box. Is there anything I need to look out for like maximum of x maps in the directory or they all have to ZIP files etc?

Regards

Ah thank you for bringing this to my attention, unfortunately the map files have to be in a 7z file.

I will try and get the program to work with zip files, until then if you download anything from smrsimple you can try and rename the file extension to .7z, it might work. Unfortunately I cannot test if this work around works until I get home and can test it on my home PC.

The requirement to have the files in an archive is due to the fact that smr is very lax about enforcing any form of file hierarchy. So there is no naming convention the program could use to detect which files it needs to move.

.......and if it does not work, unzip the map in
C:\Users\User\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Railroads!\UserMaps
folder.
No 7Z in this forum. All the maps are in Zip or RAR compression.

Hi

Thanks for that I will change the ext.

Must of missed that in the instructions, cheers for the prompt replies and help.

At worst I'll unzip and repack as .7z.

Nah you didn't really, until your post I hadn't thought about the 7zthing. But the original instructions did say that you needed there in an archive.
