Diesel Mod.

Post by eilelwen » Thu Nov 09, 2006 7:20 pm

So now that I'm actually starting up a mod I decided I would make a new topic.

So the current plan is to add to the US Diesel train list and make maps/scenerios for them.

I could really use someone to help me with the Maps/Scenarios, and maybe even a texture/skinner.

Now the Current list Train list is. I'm only counting these as 1 unit.
GE SW1 - 600 HP, Frieght, 60MPH, 1935.
F-Series B Unit - 1500 HP, Passenger, 80MPH, 1939.
GP7 - 1500 HP, Friegt, 80 MPH, 1949.
E-Series - 2400 HP, Passenger, 100 MPH, 1954.
GP40 - 3000 HP, Freight, 90 MPH, 1965.
GE U34CH - 3600 HP, 120 MPH, Passenger, 1974.
SD60 - 3800 HP, 100 MPH, Frieght, 1984.
GE AC6000CW - 6000 HP, 120 MPH, Frieght, 1994.

2 units of the same type will not increase speed only HP.

Now this list is easily changed the only ones I have models for atm are the GP7(just modified the GP40 needs some work still), SW1, GP40, and the F- Series. I will work on one engine at a time, and currently I'm working on the SW1. I also plan to add a new steamlined passenger car, Mail car for the F and E series.

Maybe what is needed is seperate sections for the different MAJOR mods!

Keep that sw2 going, I'm tired of running little steam engines for short routes!

well, atm I'm stalled looking for a texture artist, so while I will continue to model and do things that are easy for me, things are stalled, which sence I just started today on this mod isn't a big deal.

ok so I did the GP7 Unit, sence this only requied a small mod to the GP38-3 model and texture, it wasn't hard. I need to do some small things mainly to the nose. and maybe new fuel tanks. and the railing still needs some modifications. its slightly longer then the current gp 38.

Still looking for a texture artist, but now I'm gonna actually play the game I have been moding.

well I use maya 7.0, and photoshop CS. and alot of time, some expensive schooling and if you remember about a week of frustration figureing things out :).

The good news is I got contacted by a Texture Artist, so as soon as we work things out, the mod will be in full swing.

Good job! If I go back and learn a skill...I'd want to learn this 3d modeling thing.

I do have a request for a loco... PA1.

ok well tonight I worked on getting the GP7, after remembering what I did the first time I got it ingame, however, the texture dosn't work change color, I havn't added animations, and I don't know why smoke dosn't work.

I'm not sure what it takes to make the texture work so for now, that will remain not working, the others I'm working on.

well I know why the smoke isn't working, the nif importer for somereason can't read that part of the file, so I may not be able to get that working unless I get help from firaxis or the new version of nifskope(whenever that comes out) can read that part of the file.

well still working on the smoke, and it also seems the sounds arn't working yet so still having troubles, figuring out where those links are made.

Same with the texture.

Gonna include a better shot of the GP7 though.

and would you guys rather have the sd60, or the sd40-2

the sd60 fits in with my plan, I can make the sd40-2 work, but it won't be as big as an upgrade as the sd60 would be.

Is that GP7 the hi-nose version of the one in the game? If not, a low-nose of yours would be an easy addition.

its the current GP that was included in the game, with heavy modifications though.

Also after talking with Gack, it seems that adding the smoke effects, and sound might be very hard for me to do as there contained in the KFM files which I can neither create nor edit. something that MAX can create though.

Why not get the MAX trial?
