Running Train Mods with Windows 7

Post by UVaDave » Sat Apr 17, 2010 8:13 pm

Hello everyone, sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place. I am running on v1.10 on a machine running Windows 7. The game runs perfectly until I try and install a modded train from the wiki page. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and then trying a different mod, but the same thing happens every time. the game will start and go to the main menu, but once I try and start a scenario it will go to the load screen for a couple of seconds and then crash to the desktop. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

What these train skins are doing is modifying the already installed trains, therefore you should have the original train installed.
For example: For a new Mikado train you should have in the RRT_Trains_MAPNAME.XML file these lines.
<Train>
<szName>TAG_NAME_MIKADO</szName>
</Train>

For non-stock trains the RRT_Names_MAPNAME.XML file has to be also modified.
