Prototype skins for Australia

Post by karsten » Tue Mar 25, 2008 11:09 pm

First new skin. Genesee & Wyoming F3 in Australia - not totally prototypical, but OK I guess. If anyone would like to help out with some additional skins for the F3 and GP38, please let me know. :P

Hey Calm Dragon, while I do agree with you on the beauty of those shots, I'd be careful using that on your system, after all, with only 2 Mb of memory you don't have much to work with....... (try 2.046 Gb)

VERY beautiful work Karsten!! Keep this up and I may just have to drop all the work I'm doing and assist you on those skins.....Burlington Route, BN, CB&Q, BNSF, C&NW, and then some of the more colorful ones of the past and present.... how about a few B units? And FT's, F2's, F7's, FP7's, F9's, FP9's and FL9's? Matching passenger cars?

Interesting little machines these were... And for you steam lovers, these were the babies that helped very much to toss steam engines to the side of the tracks.........

Wow, CalmDragon, glad to hear that you appreciate the screenshots!
Makes all the hours of slogging away at this map worthwhile- :P

What I got up to this weekend: Snoopy, there is the AB unit of the Genesee & Wyoming Diesel Electric, based on eilelwen's mod. Some problem with the logo that I still need to fix.

Plus a 1950s Victoria Railways Diesel Electric

Here is the Ghan making its debut in the Australia map - thanks to Dr. Frag and Lowell. Some work to do on it still, and the passenger cars, of course! :D

:D Thanks K-class, comments much appreciated. These engines are intended for the new Australia map and scenario, so they will be available for download in the map file.
Although I am making quite good progress each week, I will soon be going to China for three weeks. So I guess the map won't be finished before June or July...

Re: Prototype skins for Australia

Some people have wondered why there is no progress on the Australia map. Aside from the little matter of my recent trip to China, :D there is the issue that I put a new Gainward Geforce 8800 GT in my machine. Amazingly, the driver does not appear to support Open GL, which means Nifscope does not work, which means I am a bit stuck in the development work here.
Aside from the usual helpful suggestions to download the newest drivers, maybe one of the very few expert skin makers would like to help out (the scenario needs two or three additional diesels - I can pm you the details if you are interested). These are the four engines I have done so far:
