BadKharma,
Nice choice. I caught a "Tracks Ahead" episode on PBS (they just pulled it off the air last month :x , channel 36) with some old timers telling a story about a time when they use to "catch" a ride on the Hiawatha from Milwaukee to Chicago. They use to time the ride between mile posts or roads(?), anyway they figured they were going about 105mph. 7 foot drive wheels!...

"Most experts agree that the Hiawatha was the fastest Hudson, if not the fastest steam engine used in regular passenger service in the US. Much of the Hiawatha's speed advantage was due to the combination of its 84 inch drivers, 300 pounds boiler pressure, and 96.5 square feet of grate area."

Wish I could have been riding with those guys...

You might find this of interest: http://www.milwaukee261.com/

Hope someone can take up your suggestion.

Yes I think it would be an excellent addition to the steam loco line. Seems like most of the loco's people make are diesels. I hope someone takes it up it not only is an interesting loco but would fit perfectly in the scenario I am making.

gosh    Hudson Hiawatha excess of 100 miles per hour! The size of 84 inch drivers with the guy smaller than them.

Now would be nice to get this added to feature map.

I wish someone would make an Iowa, Chicago, & Eastern SD40-2 or an Iowa Interstate GP38-2.

You do realize that the train is not taller than any other conventional locomotives right? You can increase the size of the drive wheels without increasing the height of the locomotive.

I'm in the Milwaukee Wisconsin area, I guess I should fill that out in my info. We have two PBS TV stations: 10 & 36. Tracks ahead was on channel 36 till May, then they pulled it! http://www.mptv.org/listings/monthly.php

I was just starting to record the shows to keep too!

ace13567 - that is one problem they have in England (not sure where else in the world) All their underpasses were built to a 'just passes under it' size which is why they cannot use cars like double stack containers and Hi cube box cars, along with a few others. They would just about have to rebuild the whole RR system......
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....
