Like the song sayz - "Slow down, you move to fast, you got to make the morning last....."

I get most of my ideas and revelations just after I've layed down for a nice long sleep..... HAH, fat chance......... :wink:

You got it correct, just as I thought I'd written it, didn't I? Help me out and I'll rewrite it.......
I'm correct 97% of the time..... who cares about the other 4%....

Don't rush it atani, we have faith in you..... :D

As to the GP38, that is the original one from the game, not something created, so I don't know if it has skinning capabilities.

This is what I mean snoopy. When you click on the default GP38, and select mod the way it looks.. you can change the color or change the skin. but now after adding the GP38 Dual santaFe blue you can't change anything. The picture you see, is from the default GP38 . and this is what you see. It looks like the Blue SantaFe GP38 is trying to take over the Default GP38. :shock: :lol:

Your map is using the santafeblue_gp38_2.kfm model file. This one is not customizable. Please change this line in your RRT_Trains_sides.xml to EMD_GP38_2.kfm. Then you will be playing with the customizable GP38.

Think I will have to go back and re do all my XML's, Now almost any map I open up is full of red blobs. I wish there was a way to get these in our files with out causing this type problem.

Make sure you list all/any tender units you want to show up on maps. Mod maps "and" the old game maps. Likewise if you have "special" cars for stuff...they would have to be listed on the maps TrainCars listing. B Units are tenders.

<RRTTrainCars>
<RRTGoodCars>
<TrainCar>list all cars needed here</TrainCar>
</RRTGoodCars>
<RRTTenderCars>
<TenderCar>list all your tenders here...steam and diesel B units</TenderCar>
</RRTTenderCars>
</RRTTrainCars>

This will stop the red "blob" attack...
If the map "CTD's" it's because you are missing info for the game to run the map's files.

EDIT// Also, check to make sure you have the FPK file inside your custom assets folder as well...the F Series B Unit needs one for sure.

EDIT-EDIT// I have singles and duals of all the diesels, even the GP38 and the Santa Fe versions inside my roundhouse.

Finally got the installer working right for this mod. Turned out that I had not installed the AC4400 train and the single engine version installed by this new installer was breaking things... So now the installer checks if you have the AC4400 installed and if so then enables the single engine version, otherwise doesnt add it.

Thanks atani

So how does this installer work?

Does this go through every map and checks every RT_Trains_mapname.xml

Does it check for the correct FPK?

I presume all the installer does is add to the global RRT_Trains.xml and RRT_TrainCars.xml

Would be good to include instructions to add to your map files as the forum is full of questions and issues getting these moded trains to work. :D

I dont see what this installer does after running some maps.

As I still have to go in and add or change whats in the RRT_Trains_mapname.xml

1. The Santa fee dual train one train is yellow the dummy is blue
2. In the global RRT_Trains.xml you have this referance below.

There is event_newtrain_GP7.dds in the interface\GP7\ folder and in fact there is no GP7 folder.

Have I missed something here?

*******************************************

found the above reference in CustomAssets\Trains\gp7

******************************************

Code: Select all

szName>TAG_NAME_GP7_SGL</szName>
        <Year>1949</Year>
        <szManufacturerName>EMD</szManufacturerName>
        <szModel>EMD_GP7.kfm</szModel>
        <szDummyModel>EMD_GP7_Dummies.nif</szDummyModel>
        <szCar>_v2</szCar>
        <szNewTrainImage>interface\GP7\event_newtrain_GP7.dds</szNewTrainImage>
By the way I get have got all the trains working apart from 1 above by editing the RRT_Trains_mapname.xml for each map.
