First Annual Map Building Contest
The ultimate challenge of this game is to create good map with a good scenario.

We have several new members, who seem to be pretty efficient of what they are doing.
I won’t name names, but you know who you are.

Therefore I like to propose a contest of “Scenario and Map Design” .
The maps can be any size, any format, can contain new and borrowed material.
The contest is open to everybody, new or old.
The contest is open to members and non-members alike.
The contest will end December 1-st 2010.
First prize will be virtual Christmas Tree from “Questionable Designs”

Our friendly and expert staff will be ready to help anybody with their problems.
For some stock help please read these threads:

Under what criteria are they going to be judged, and who is doing the judging?

Neither WarII nor I will be doing any judging and I will not have any entry. That would not be fair.
Probably will collect votes from the general membership. We’ll have to see how much interest will develop. I would like to see maps from new mapmakers. There could be a category “First Map”, actually the general membership should have a voice about all this.

Opinions are welcome and are encouraged.

Hi Folks, I have a map that I have just finished. I've been living with this for months. I have to build the upload file, but am not sure what size file you can take. What is the current upload file-size limit? I just need to figure out how many pieces I need to break it into. Thanks, Slider

I have posted a map - My_Old_Kentucky_Home_SAM in the Map Development section as requested above. I wasn't sure if I should start some kind of "Contest Maps" thread or what. I posted it simply under the map name, but feel free to move it if need be.

The map is contained in 2 consecutive posts due to the 7MB size limitation and the fact that there is a limit of 5 attachments per post. Best I could do. I hope you like the map. Slider

I know this is almost two years late, but drum roll please...

Our winner is slider38!

Sorry there is no prize...

Some may wonder why this contest took so long to complete. To your curiosity I can only point you here: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=4502

Jancsika was our best moderator (sorry atani) and a long time community member. This contest was his idea and when he never ended it I thought nothing of it. I now realize the rather morbid situation where Jancsika in fact died just over a month after opening this contest. It took a few months for Snoopy to discover this and I never made the connection between this abandoned contest.

So that's why, God bless Jancsika.
