Re: New Discovery!
K, I have a new theory.... Gotta scrap the train or track theory. Now I think it's based on cars. I tested the upgrade hypothesis and in my case it made no difference. I was running 2 trains, both Moguls. I upgraded them both to the Ten Wheeler engine, first the original train, then about 2 years la...

Re: New Discovery!
I did noticed this "Loyalty" anomaly last week when someone started a shorter stealing line between two of my preforming cities. I was making 800K on my train to his 300K (aproximately) and my train was an EARLIER SLOWER model. Thinking I would improve my return, I upgraded my train to the more mod...

New Discovery!
So I was playing another veteran onliner today... and he mentioned how the shortest track always wins. I said "Not Always" and pointed out a system I had between Portland and Salem, I had 3 trains running parallel between these 2 cities. Track 2 was a little shorter than Track 1 and Track 3 was a li...

Re: Problems with routings and loads
Also-I do suggest you go with my methods-otherwise, this game COULD drive you to drink!!! *snicker* (getting the game to work realistically is like trying to find an honest politician or a sober Irishman)

Re: Problems with routings and loads
Hello, 2) Related to the first question, I am a bit confused on freight loading and how its distributed. In the manual, the example only talks about having a raw material resource (i.e. cows) in one city. transferring it to another city for processing (i.e. cows to food), and sending it (i.e. food)...

Re: Problems with routings and loads
Hello, 1) When routing, I've read several post that the best strategy is to dedicate ONE track with ONE train per resource/city, and minimize crossovers. That's good advice, but I guess the conflict I see is that (and I guess what one's ultimate goal of the game is) it doesn't make for a very reali...

Re: How to delete track
To delete a section of track, all you need to do is left click the piece of track and then hit the button used to delete. I don't recall what the default key is, could be "delete". But in the options menu, you can see what button deletes an object, including track. I also imagine there is the option...

Re: Multi-Player Rule Systems
I didn't realize that multiplayer was full of so many exploitable bugs. I've noticed a few times that a relatively poor player accumulates a large amount of money in a short amount of time, but they call me a sore loser if I call them out on it. Personally, I don't like the King City Rules, because...

Re: Online strategy guide
5. Prevent stealing. By building your station closest to the raw material deposit, your opponent might try to steal, but you will always get the most because you are the closest. Sorry... one more thing. The above statement is questionable also. It also coincides with the earlier passenger remarks ...

Re: Online strategy guide
I see what you mean, but it can sometimes be really difficult getting that station track to be very small and still connect to the station. I'll test this out sometime and get back to you. And it still seriously violates the spirit of the game. Like having a train route so short the train is...

Re: FAQ Strategy and Game-play
Thanks for your tips darthdroid. They have made all my games at 'Robber Baron' now a cake walk. :) Especially your stock tips and industry buying advice. You've made me much less reluctant to go ahead and just build an industry close to a resource rather than delivering to one farther away. Glad I ...

Re: Keyboard shortcuts and stuff...
I have recently learnt through 'having a play' that pressing + and - allows you to change the height of the track you are building. I have been playing the game for many months now, and have only just discovered this gem that will help me considerably. I was wondering what other titbits I have been...

Re: Online strategy guide
This discussion of Point #1:No curved Track and the crazy right angle turns got me curious. How much of an actual advantage is it to have those 90 degree turns? I tested it. Case 1 : 7.97 miles of track test.JPG Case 2 : 9.71 miles of track test2.JPG After running the same brand new train the same ...

Having stickys works best for the FAG anyway, and the wiki would just be ignored.
The wiki is there for historical purposes and it will be able to stay there forever since we do not have to worry about vandalism.

Re: Online strategy guide
this game is so bugged you can have ridiculously hacks. eg: 'walking' stations aka 'double track then delete' to create create zero travel distance between two towns. Right, this is called "Excessive Station Moving" and violates all 4 rule systems. There are only 4 "cheats" in the Base Rules (the a...
