Re: Map IBERIA

You certainly got your energy back, and these are all good extensions of the map. :D I played version 3 (to 1960) as Robber Baron and was just short by 10 years, so your proposed extention to 1970 seems a good idea. In addition, I avoided the unrealistic sea bridges. The TGV becomes available only i...

Re: Map IBERIA

Brest works now, and the moutains are more mountainous! :D As in reality, everyone in Madrid loves living in the mountains! I replayed the map a few times and had good fun discovering efficient routes. Some neat little puzzles that need to be solved. Very enjoyable! This map had me hooked. Initially...

Re: Map IBERIA

I think you have overdone the "softening" of the terrain. In the editor, you can smooth the rivers and build up the central mountains again. I remember seeing massive mountains outside Madrid, not the rocky hills that we have now. "For centuries the range constituted a border between the Christian k...

Re: New Map - Arabia

I managed to complete the map (not a single crash, and no slowdown at the end), and quite a challenge it is, too! Gold delivery was difficult, and the pilgrims at the end needed some quick action to develop neglected villages! Lovely map, fun to play and challenging. How did you do the elevation lev...

Re: New Map - Arabia

:D Just back from China and I start the Arabia map, such a welcome and interesting addition to our regional coverage! The music gives the right mood background, the newspapers are super and the whole thing hangs together very nicely. Great opening screen! I have posted a few screenshots, to highligh...

Re: Map IBERIA

Your map reminds me of Thomas Vincente's Spain. Spain is so mountainous, its hard to get good-looking rivers (see original rivers picture). This reminded me of a tip by Dataman: If you paint map tile 5 with the greyscale pixels of tile 1 at the location of a river, you get a river that rises with th...

Re: Revised Map - JAPAN3

Fine, the new version works beautifully, I got through all the goals this time, even the pesky speed record. Minor issues: The sushi headline is not quite right, and I think there need to be four hotels, not three. But that will have to wait for another day. The structure of the main map goals is no...

Re: Revised Map - JAPAN3

Yes, the gold and the speed record evaded me as well initially. I solved the speed record with brute force (see pictures) with the Shinkansen maxing out at 320 kmh.
I am now trying for the gold with the newly posted version. :D

Re: Revised Map - JAPAN3

I went through all the goals, no problems. I did not make the gold delivery, but that was because I bought out a gold-producing competitor too late. :( I think you could shift the highlighted "confirmation goals" to the second or even a mini-third era. They are fulfilled automatically and this would...

Re: My first post and map

Hmm, I don't see the new version, but those are certainly good improvements (less engines popping up). 200 automobiles should work, but still only at Investor level? I have played version 3 with the safe event file, no crashes. Ronda on the mountains certainly looks similar in reality. http://en.wik...

Re: My first post and map

You say you played with the correct Events file - but there is none in the folder you provided here. If you mean my safe Events file - it has to be referenced in the scenario file. See how it is done in some of the more recent maps. Good luck

Re: My first post and map

I tried it myself, and within 5 minutes, I got quite a pleasing result. Copied the greyscale and multiplied it with the original, 50% combination of top and bottom layer. There is still a bit of an inland lake in the South, but one gets the idea! :P

Re: My first post and map

This looks promising! The crashes, as usual for new maps, are due to a missing Random Event file. The easiest solution is to use the safe Random Event file, which does not crash. I have provided it in this thread, for example, in the 7th post from the top. http://smrsimple.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f...
