Re: Epic History of Railroad in Utah (updated)
You can call this map the grand-daddy of all map modifications that were developed based in this map. As I remember it correctly the original map was developed even before the SAM (Stand Alone Maps) were invented. The original map came with an installer by Atani and it had a provision to select diff...

Re: 4-8-4 Golden State Revision
Great new engines.
Finally there is somebody who can do steam engines.
There is so much more romance in the steam locomotives, than in those modern, smooth and slick diesel engines. They appeal to the HP (horsepower) lovers, but for character you can’t beat the steam…

Re: Map Building Contest
Under what criteria are they going to be judged, and who is doing the judging? Neither WarII nor I will be doing any judging and I will not have any entry. That would not be fair. Probably will collect votes from the general membership. We’ll have to see how much interest will develop. I would like...

Re: Chaning the selection of industries
If you have downloaded a map, so you don't have the design file, is there anyway to change the selection of industries one can buy in one of the XML files? I've found how you can add/change cities, add/change trains, etc in the XML files, but can't find where you set the industries. I'm referring t...

Re: New York to Chicago
Here is a (2) set of Victory condition that I use for samples. You can look them over for ideas. As for the city sizes: If the game stars in 1850, I would just look it up in an encyclopedia the contemporary sizes, and would adjust the size to match. I’ll let you work on things a little. That’s the w...

Re: New York to Chicago
Here is a marked up set of your map. Using an XML editor I’ve made some adjustment 1. I’ve used the “Pretty print” command to make the xml files more understandible. It gives each command line a “Line break”. 2. Edited the “RRT_Cities_NYC_Chicago.XML file: Towns will accept Food. City will accept Fo...

Re: New York to Chicago
About to start on the industries. I already know to make Chicago the beef capital and Pittsburgh and Charleston the major steel producing sites but I'm wondering what should New York City or some of the other NY cities should be. NYC should be the financial center. In order to do it you can ship Au...

Re: New York to Chicago
The game wants to have 4 staring locations. If you have less than 4 it might pick one arbitrary. So it’s better if you decide. I wonder if you know that a village will grow as the game progresses to town, city and metropolis. In order to do that the village (town, city) has to be connected to the net...

Re: New York to Chicago
Update. I've added in as many cities I could think of that would be important, but I'd like someone to check to make sure they're all correct. You have 41 cities. That is about twice as much as a map of this size can handle comfortably. Here you have to make a mental decision, what your scenario go...
