Re: Patch Problems and CTD

SirElfMan, The Update 101 and 110 each appear to be a single .FPK file (1 each) that contain about 100 new or corrected files of train, terminal, passenger, etc assets. In my computer the .FPK files are located in the Assets (not Custom Assets) folder, under the Sid Meiers Railroads! folder, under t...

US_Southeast Version 2

I have prepared a Version 2 of the US_Southeast Map. The map has more complicated goods deliveries. To make the map look better, I have added more trees and animated decorations by Rodea. The map now includes military tanks from Choobacca's Basin and Range map. The foundry now converts scrap metal t...

Re: New Map - US_Southeast

Karsten, I am posting a revised version of the US_Southeast map on another thread, but I wanted to respond to your comments regarding spaghetti. I could change the map, but I wanted to make it true to the actual locations of cities, industries, and resources of the area. I included a map of the actu...

Re: Map Components Decorations

While working on version 2 of my US_Southeast map I wanted to have bears in the Smoky Mountains. Bears are a popular tourist attraction in the National Park there. Even though the Bears.kfm file which comes with SMR references many kf animation files for the bears, I could not get the bears to move....

Re: New Map - US_Southeast

I found the problem. In the Industries.xml under Production InputOutputRatio, I had "1.0" which should have been "0" (zero) since the Naval Station demands troops and ammunition but does not produce anything. After making this change I tested it and now the trains do not get stuck at the Naval Stati...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM

Karsten, I see the mountain reflection in your screen shot. Looks cool. I still don't get any terrain reflections on my maps. Maybe it is a result of the graphic option settings I use. I will play around with this. Another factor I found that affects water reflections is the depth of the water. I be...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM

I have played around with the EMSK and SPEC files some more and learned the following. Specular properties as defined by Karsten as “directional reflections” seem to be a maximum when both files are either white or transparent. In the case of the lighthouses, light reflected off the surface is not f...

Re: Basin And Range 2-maps CIC build Size 13 -18

Lowell, Great Map!! Played it all the way through and completed all VCs 9 years early on Investor Level with Basin $$. Nice Landscape, Rolling Stock, and Event Pics. No startup or crashing problems and games saved OK . With all the powerful engines it makes sense that this should be a large map like...

Lowell, I would love for you to take a look at the files. The US_Southeast map in posted in Maps in Development on the line just beneath your Basin and Range. Thanks, TMiller

Re: Basin And Range 2-maps CIC build Size 13 -18

Lowell, Nice screen shots. This is a great map. I have a question for you. I was playing the old Basin and Range map a few weeks ago. I hauled Abrams Tanks from the War Factory in Cathedral Valley to the Military Fort in Poison Mesa. All was fine except when I removed the empty cars at Poison Mesa t...

Re: New Map - US_Southeast

Karsten, Thanks for your comments on the map. I am glad you like the reskinned rolling stock. This was actually the first map I ever tried to do. While working on it I got the idea for my Gone With the Wind map and switched to that project. Then Japan, Arabia, and Canadian Pacific. I am just now get...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM

Note: Figures below are numbered corrected but listed in backward order. I should have posted the last one first I guess. Karsten, that was a very good idea to use Sliders lighthouse to see the effect of the EMSK file. I have tried to figure these files out many times, so I played around with the li...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM

Karsten, If SPEC stands for specular and specular means "exhibiting the qualities of a mirror"; maybe adjustments to the SPEC file will make the lighthouse more reflective. I think I will take a look at the diff, norm, emsk, and spec files for the shiny bell on the Consolidation loco and see if EMSK...

Re: Lake Michigan West SAM

Slider, No need for thanks. I am having fun trying to find the problem and fix. There is a small problem with the AutoParts plant I noticed while playing the game and thought it might relate to the startup problems. The problem is that it is difficult to highlight the AutoParts Plant with the cursor...
