Re: New York to Chicago

I have bad news to break to all: I cannot continue this project. College life along with many other things not worth mentioning have gotten in the way and I've lost track of my work. I can pass on what I have to anyone who wants to continue this project on in my stead, but unfortunately I no longer ...

Re: New York to Chicago

Well the goals are good enough. I need to get an XML editor though to correct some mistakes. Once the week is over I'll do that. I just have a lot on my plate right now college wise. Narrowed down the list of starting locations to four: New York, Chicago, Toronto and Cleveland. Made these industries...

Re: New York to Chicago

The game wants to have 4 staring locations. If you have less than 4 it might pick one arbitrary. So it’s better if you decide. I wonder if you know that a village will grow as the game progresses to town, city and metropolis. In order to do that the village (town, city) has to be connected to the ne...

Re: New York to Chicago

You have 41 cities. That is about twice as much as a map of this size can handle comfortably. Here you have to make a mental decision, what your scenario goals are and limit the number of cities to that goal. In that case I have to cut it down by half. I already have an idea of which cities to cut....

Re: New York to Chicago

Update. I've added in as many cities I could think of that would be important, but I'd like someone to check to make sure they're all correct.

I've enclosed the folder of what I have so far.

Get back to me with some notes/changes?

Many thanks.

Re: New York to Chicago

I keep deleting the map and starting from scratch and readjusting the height map to fit the gray square but it keeps giving me the same result. I really don't want to spend hours redoing the entire map if this is what's going to happen. Is there anyone who can take the height map and make a blank ma...

Re: New York to Chicago

Oh I'm sorry I missed that part. I redid it and now I'm looking for a suitable program for opening the .tga file. Sadly the only paint program I have is ordinary Microsoft Paint, so I need to find something for free download online. EDIT: DLing GIMP now. I'm starting to wonder if maybe 225 square un...

Question #1 What size map are you making.? When you are starting a map in the terrain editor, you will have a choice of different sizes. Go and read the mapmaking tutorial!! http://www.smrsimple.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=4226 It’s not that difficult, and let me know the size of the map. And d...

Re: New York to Chicago

Before we go too much into details, it would be nice to know exactly how much you know about the game. Karsten has a good idea where to get the necessary TGA files. With that knowledge you want to read the Map Making tutorial http://www.smrsimple.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=4226 You will need b...
