Re: CIC,SAM, None the above.

After six years, my stance on SAM maps has softened. Another four years and I may retire. I have an idea for a new series of maps. Now to fire up the old system and see if the old version of MicroDEM still works the way I remember. The new version of data files use a new technology and hence have a ...

Re: A new Railroads game?

Not lately, Open Transport Tycoon is updated often though.

It is a little tough to get started, getting the graphics and sounds, but worth it in the end.
I have fun with it.

Steam updates the game for you.
No need to patch manually.
Try a different map?

Re: FAQ Modding Map-making

there are dozens of Sid Meier Railroads videos, mostly Lets Play type. Never thought of doing an editing video. Most editing is done in text XML files and one graphic MAP file. And constantly referring to the WIKI. Hmmm...

Re: Track Laying Observations

I have to frown now and then when the track decides it needs 15 signals in a very short span. That division never seems right to me. Bugs me to the point where I divert or delete trains away from that section as I delete each little section and extra signal until I am down to one again.

Re: NEW MAP: New York Central & The Erie

Very fun map to play! Challenging in the way that if the city demands the same resource that your built industry wants, it splits with your industry and lowers your output of the next good. Economy was fun to play with, though the AI started right across the river from me so competition was on from ...

Re: New Map: Gone With the Wind

Found my disk to the game the other day and started playing through the various maps. Fun had. Then I came here looking for more. This map is awesome. I am still confused by the econmy and my first full playthrough may have done only two of the objectives correctly. Way too many recurits generated t...

Re: CIC,SAM, None the above.

Lost my prime hard drive last month, and moved from the beach to downtown. Need to find my CD and re-install and start editing again. Voice Acting hobby has taken a lot of my time lately too. Still have my DEM data on a flash drive, hmmmm....

Re: Industry Growth Victory Condition

I think he means he is composing a scenario and needs a victory condition to reflect an industry that has grown from one level to the next. I don't remember seeing an example like that in one of the original XMLs. Will dig a little deeper... Edit, can only find these victory conditions: 3.1 BuildStu...

Re: Question about maps and map sizes

There is no auto-map generator. All customer maps are Created and Edited by hand with a few tools. Number of players seems to be maxed at 4. Maps do not scale from one size to another. They would have to be manually created in the larger scale, which takes up more RAM, which bogs down some machines....

Sounds like an events XML file issue. Make sure you have events only for goods that are in your scenario. Also the global ones about the economy in general are safe to be the only ones.
